An earlier target, the second half of 2026, has passed. The Kanjurmarg depot is not built, so MMRDA plans to open with an elevated pit line at the Vikhroli end instead, as reported.

The state has sent a proposal to the Centre; the land is still not handed over, as reported in August and September 2026. The depot contract went to Sam India Builtwell for Rs 547.45 crore in March 2024 and waits for the land.
